A Piece of Me

Our Father, who art in heaven

Hallowed be thy name

How does one enter your kingdom?

as whole

and not in pieces?

Must I repent parts of me

at your gates?

A piece of me

is made of

abominable love

The one I love is

the piece I can’t give up

He’s the reason the ground

below the precipice

never claimed me

That’s a piece of me

I can’t repent.

We’re taught your love is pure, divine

but where does it end?

Will your gates open

and grant me heaven?

Oh! Father

If losing a piece of me

is your will,

Then maybe

I don’t want heaven.
